It is a genuine loss and the industry has mostly decided not to acknowledge it. You are not being precious.

The thing that helped me was making it social again. Two of us tape together, we read for each other, it takes an afternoon and it stopped feeling like homework.

Ten years ago I drove ninety minutes each way for a five minute audition. There were losses in that system too. But you are right that we lost something real.

Some offices are bringing back in-person for callbacks specifically because of this. It is not universal but it is moving.
