Look at the union low budget agreements even if this is non-union. They give you a number to anchor against and it is usually a shock to the producer that you know them.

Producer here. If we cannot pay properly we should be honest that we are asking you for a favor, and we should be offering something real in exchange. Footage, a credit that means something, food that is not terrible.

Deferred payment is not payment. Treat it as zero when you decide.
