Anyone working out of a smaller market and actually making it work?

Not LA, not NY, not Atlanta. Somewhere with a film office and not much else.

Minneapolis. Regional theatre, a steady industrial and corporate scene, and enough film that I am busy. I make less than my LA friends and I keep more of it.

New Mexico. Two streamers shoot here regularly and being genuinely local hire is worth more than a better reel from out of state.

The pattern that works is: be the best option in a small pool for a specific type, and be reachable within an hour. Both of those are easier outside the big two.

Corporate and industrial is the thing that makes a small market survivable. It is unglamorous and it pays properly.

I did ten years in a small market and moved at 34 with a real reel and no debt. That is a much better position than arriving at 22 with neither.
