Plenty of advice about what to do. Less about the mistakes worth avoiding. What did you waste time or money on?

    Paid casting director workshops where the pitch is access rather than teaching. I spent about 1200 on those and got nothing but a lot of business cards.

    Do not redo your headshots four times in one year chasing a version of yourself that does not exist. Once, properly, then leave it.

    Do not sign with the first person who offers, especially if they found you. Good representation is not usually looking for people with no credits.

    Do not quit your job the week you book something. The gap after the first booking is longer than anybody warns you.

    Do not spend the first year only preparing. I know people who trained for three years and never submitted for anything because they never felt ready.

    And do not compare your year one to somebody else's year six, which is what every social feed is going to invite you to do.
