Tell your manager, not the whole office. That gets you the flexibility without the running commentary.

The exposure feeling is real. People will ask about it in a way that can feel like being asked to justify yourself at the coffee machine.

I told everyone and it was fine. Half of them came to a show and one of them turned out to produce commercials.
