New York, comfortably, for that combination. You can do both in one city there in a way that is much harder in LA.

LA has theatre but it is largely a showcase for screen work rather than an end in itself. If theatre matters to you as theatre, that will grate.

New York for the first few years, LA later if the screen side takes off. That is the well-worn path and it is well worn for a reason.

Counterpoint: pilot season and the sheer volume of screen auditions is an LA thing. If screen is genuinely the goal, the math favors LA eventually.

The other honest answer is that both are now less location-dependent than they were, because so much is taped. Where you live matters most for class, community and local hire status.
