Not a crisis post. A calm one. I am tired and I want to know how people decided either way.

The question that helped me was not "is this working" but "what would I be doing instead, and do I want it". If the answer to the second is nothing specific, that is worth sitting with.

Nobody talks about the people who stopped and were happier. Some of them are and it is not a failure.

I stopped for three years, did something else, came back. It is not a door that locks behind you.

You are allowed to change what you want. Nine years of wanting something does not obligate you to want it forever.

A calm version of this question is a good sign, whichever way you go. It is the panicked ones at 3am that produce bad decisions.

I thought about it at year nine too. Stayed. Year eleven was the best I have had. That is not advice, it is just one data point.
