One is warmer and softer, one is flatter and more direct. My photographer prefers the soft one. My gut says the direct one is more castable.
How do people decide this when both are technically fine?

Show both to five people for two seconds each and ask what job they would give you. The one with the consistent answer is your commercial shot.

Castable beats flattering, every time. The photo is not there to be liked, it is there to say what you are for.

Your gut is usually right on this and photographers usually prefer the prettier one, because they made it.
