Ask the production for the footage. They will often give you a clip even if it is not in the film, and it is still reel material.

It is almost never about the performance. Scenes go for pace, for structure, because a subplot collapsed in the edit.

I had a whole character cut from a feature in 2013. Still on my resume, still counts, still got me the next job through the casting director who hired me.

The lesson most people take from this is to stop telling family to watch for you until you have seen the cut.
