Are vertical dramas a threat to the art of acting and filmmaking such that even those who enjoy them, for any possible reason, are culpable?

With vertical dramas, there's been an explosion of debate, discussion and dissection around them. Nuclear bomb kind of explosion in the past year. I wonder about this because while naturally there are many that are inherently unwatchable unless there's morbid...

Microphone recs?

Hello there! I'm sorry if this kind of post gets old/ has already been made many times. I just didn't find anything specific enough for the work I want to be doing. I'm a not-so-beginner voice actor and a singer, and I'm looking for a good mic. I got...

2 year plan... is this the dumbest decision ever?

Hi guys! Gonna try my best to keep this short and sweet. Four years ago, I (28F) almost signed with an agent, didn't do it, and instead worked a very intensive, crazy long hours kinda job until one month ago... solely because I've missed acting so much. So...

Background extra work (los angeles)

Wondering if you have some suggestions for how I can get background extra work? Do you really have to scroll every day on actors access etc just to maybe get a gig as an extra? In the Uk there are sites and agencies specifically for background work, so I was...

Theatre vs Film

I see most post on this thread very film centered. And I think most people when we come to acting, we think film or TV as the epitome of someone’s career. Or at least that’s what I’ve seen both while at school and then in reality. And don’t get me wrong, ever...

Do I leave acting industry?

I don’t think it’s a simple one moment decision, it’s complex and happens over a long period. I was last on stage two years ago, dropped by my agent this year after 7 year relationship (after they discovered I was looking to sign elsewhere) and signed with...

Writing up cold emails to management agencies

Hi all! I'm an actor in Sydney, I have been on sets for over a decade and have been able to work full time for the last 3-4 years as a professional freelance actor and model, but my network is also feeling the drought so I'm trying to find representation to...

Acting in my first short film this weekend and need advice

I am looking for advice on my first screen acting role this weekend. I have very little experience outside of some high school drama club stuff I did over a decade ago. I have a small group of friends who all want to be filmmakers. There are four of us and...

Anyone heard of Pristine Casting? Does this look weird to anyone else? Need opinions.

This is supposedly a casting company based in HK, but I can’t find anything about them online. I searched the projects they supposedly have worked on but couldn’t find anything either. No mention on IMDB or anything. This is one of the accounts posting about...

For anyone here who actually has actually made it in acting (i.e. been in a TV show, movie, etc) how did you get your start?

I'm just kind of curious of people's origin stories in acting. Like did you take a lot of acting classes, go to every audition, and then got picked? Or were you lucky and were in the right place at the right time and had the right look? Or perhaps you...
