For video games and anime, how much time does a voice actor have in the booth to analyze and mark up a script before recording lines?

I know that film, tv, and theatre actors will take their scripts home and really pore over them. But I've heard you don't really have the time for that when you're voice acting in a studio with an engineer and a director.
