How Do I Find Canadian Casting Notices?

I've previously contacted Backstage directly asking about Canadian casting notices, but didn't have much luck there. I might be relocating up across the border soon, and was wondering where I could find legitimate casting notices for work up there? Doing...

Acting Classes for Voice Over

I'm looking at taking acting classes and using those skills to help start a Voice Over career. Should I be looking for anything specific, or just find a program I like that will help improve my acting skills in general?

Filling Out Casting Profiles

I have heard a lot of varying advice on filling out casting files, be it Actors Access, Backstage, Casting Networks (gotta have them all...*eye roll*), like make sure to include both headshots AND candid photos (which should be kept as current as possible)...

How do you get started?

I've always been interested in acting but don't know where to start. I'm looking for acting classes in my area. Where do you even start? Could get some help on the best course of action. I'm from the Nebraska, could get some feed back on some help.

Callback advice for your fellow actors!

Actors! What advice do you have for your peers regarding callbacks? One general piece of advice I've heard over the years is that you should go in and not change anything that you did unless instructed to do so, but are there any other things that you do to...

Experience, Colleges, and Possibilities

Hey so I don't go to an acting school but I'm in my school's drama club and class, do dance, sing, etc. I've been on Backstage for a year or two but I don't live in California or New York so there aren't that many casting calls in my area....

Compensation for roles

Forgive my naivety, I'm new to all of this... But when a role says it "pays $68/8 hours" does that mean you work for 8 hours and get paid $68.00? That's what it sounds like.

Our last casting experience

File this under “shameless plug” perhaps, but here at OC Actors we are seeing a trend in the submissions we’ve received for a movie we are producing. The trend is poorly lit, awful-sounding and over-crowded submission reels. Holy cow! Some of them are...

Austin Area - Acting Classes, Workshops, Mentors

Any recommendations for the Austin area for acting classes and workshops? I'm ultimately wanting somewhere that can confirm whether I have what it takes or not. If I have potential I want someone to be able to tell me what I need to improve on.

What skills are listed on your acting resume?

Links instead of attachments for Agents?

I was wondering if it's polite to send a link to my Backstage profile instead of adding attachments when submitting to Talent Agencies. I feel like Backstage has such a convenient format and it's just so well composed. It would also save me tons of time...

Looking for an all-encompassing term

If you do a variety of entertainment work, such as acting, voiceovers, music, etc, and wanted an umbrella term for these on your general CV (not acting/whatever résumé) what would you use? Media artist? Entertainer?

Stage Names

My last name is Threadgill, but when submitting for roles I go under the name Gill. It's a personal preference. However, now that I'm considering moving to LA I looked at IMBD and I see there are already several actors going by my "stage name." Is that going...

Decided to pursue acting! Where do I start?

Hi, I am a recent college grad. My whole life I've wanted to pursue acting, and I've finally decided to go for it. I have performed since I was a kid, in school plays and musicals -- but didn't do much in college. I'm fortunate that I live within commuting...
