Late 20s + previous acting experience — looking for advice

I’m in my late 20s and have done background work and student films before. I never received the footage from the student films, though, so I currently don’t have a reel or professional headshots. I’m near NYC and am curious what other actors in a similar...

How do you improve impressionations and emotions

Hi! I've been wanting to get into voice acting and impersonations because I always thought it was really cool as a kid, but I was always too embarrassed to actually practice. Now that I'm a bit older, I decided to finally give it a try, only to realize I have...

AI question for SAGAFTRA actors regarding post production.

I was asked if instead of using CGI for some post production for a movie I was in, if I was okay with them using AI for some scenes I was in. I called SAG and I know producers have to submit paperwork and there are fees. But I’m wondering if anyone has...

How comes actors don't treat true indie film in the same way they treat Off Broadway or fringe theatre?

I run a festival network, and before that I was an actor working in London, professionally trained at The Oxford School of Drama. I left acting to pursue my festival career over a long period of around 10 years or so. I occasionally do background work now and...

Vent: considering starting a subreddit for bitter actors

To start, a disclaimer: I love voice acting, I do. The moments I’ve had in the booth where I’ve laughed my head off because of the absurdity of the things I’ve said, and been incredibly proud of work I’ve done. BUT. The career - the in between bits - are so...

As an actor who knows how hard it is to be good, what do you think of Bryan Cranston (in Breaking Bad for instance)?

This i maybe a weird post, but I recently watched acting-videos where someone gave advice and showed beginners, advanced and pros acting and then comparing it to oscar-winning actors and I loved it. It must be really hard to be very convincing, I wanna try it...

Which order are Eco-Cast Self Tapes Submissions viewed by casting directors?

Hi all, can someone who has insider knowledge or worked for a casting office chime in? I’ve always been curious if being one of the first few actors to submit their self tape video files into an eco cast on Actors Access does anything to increase the chance...

Will my accent hinder my chances as an actor?

I have an accent that does no match my look. I am Asian and grew up in South America, now living in LA. I don't have a thick accent but maybe a quarter of the people that I talk to notice it. I understand there are actors with accents, but I have never seen...

Thoughts on UK - USA actor training? Yale MFA/Certificate specifically.

Hello ? I’m looking for thoughts on an experienced UK-based actor, training for the first time on the Yale MFA Certificate? I’ve always agreed on U.K. drama schools being the best, and graduating into a market you have connections / visa to work etc. I...

What actually changed for you after working with a coach one-on-one vs. just taking classes?

26F, moved to LA from the Midwest, acting 6 years, currently with a lower-tier agency. Trying to decide: chase a stronger agency, or put my time/money into a great acting coach instead? If it's the coach route — looking for someone strong in self-tapes and...

Acting teachers say the funniest things!

Have you ever stepped back and thought about the language we use to talk about acting? Or wondered what a non-actor would think about what is said in acting class? Acting classes are full of metaphors, abstractions, aphorisms, and occasionally statements that...

so I recently signed with an agent in LA. It’s fairly boutique and they have a roaster of about 60 female actors (I’m in my early 20s and I’m a brown female for context with my questions) my first question is: I’ve been signed to them for a month and haven’t...

Nothing is worse than the epidemic of Talent Managers and Agents posting like they are stars/celebrities and all of their content is basically dogging on actors.

I had a friend reach out to this guy last week and she was accused of using Chat GPT in his email (she didn't) - and to make it funnier - he is posting about using Chat GPT in post, after post. [THEN he makes a reel about it...
