How to be a movie extra ?
Hello everyone,
I'm wondering how to be a movie extra ? What are the steps or process to be an extra in a movie ? I may be showing some ignorance in here, but can one just go to where they are making movies and volunteer to be one ? Please advise. I'd appreciate it. Thanks in advance ! |

the best thing to do is to get onthe books of an extras casting agency. do a net search for ones near you!

You can't just volunteer. You have to, like cenobitehell mentioned, get a book that has the "extras" representatives and sign on with them. It's pretty easy to do, so I hear.
If you are in Los Angeles, just go to Samuel French Bookstore...you could even ask the clerk there, they usually know that stuff. Or you might be able to get it from samuel french's website.

theres also a number of webiste where you can put yourself in a database, like www.moviex.com.

I hear that it is real easy! Just be prepared to wait around a long time. Keep looking online on google there are usually always casting calls for extras. Good luck!

I do a bunch of extra work here in the LA area. Definitely get registered with Central if you are in this area and get a good call-in service.
