Hey there! So in school were are doing a play about pirates, kind of like Pirates of the Carribbean. The guys in my class aren't 100% reliable so my teacher has just told us girls if we want to go out for a guy part we can! So sense this about pirates, all the main characters are guys and theres only one lead girl's part. I really want that part, and sense I have a friend in casting I'll probably get it. But the other parts...... with those I've been having trouble. I'm going to try for the main guy too. He's pompus. rich, and madly in love with Sara Huffington. The other main guy part is a gruff and ruthless pirate! I am the girlyest girl there is so getting into guy mode has been hard so far. Could any one give me any hints? I need a guy stance, and characteristics. Basiclly could some one give me a crash course in guyness? Voice especially has been hard b/c I have the highest pitched girlest voice imaginable! Thanks for the help!

just watch men around you, notice the subtlest charactoristics about them, how they walk, how they talk, how they move their hands... just study. as for your voice, you just have to practice getting into your lower range.

there's a great film of lili tomlin, in a one woman show playing male/female characters. she is very specific, enchanting, and believable. watching another woman embody "guyness" may prove helpful.Also, if you have access to texts on the Alexander Technique, check it out. The foundation is based on consciously changing our habitual patterns of movement, posture, etc.
