I don't want to go by my full name when I start acting. Is it ok just, like when I take classes or go on auditions, to tell them the name I want to act under instead of my full name? The name I want IS my name, but I'm using my middle name as my last. | ||

yep you can use any name as you want you only need give you real name if it involves payment or anything legal. this is your "Stage name" or "Known as" Name when you sign up witha union like equity or something, you chose your official stagename then,. | ||

Yes precisely..... I go by the name with the initials of my username on here SWK. My first name is Stephanie [real name] but i changed it around a little to something different. My middle name is the middle name of one of my uncle's [who died when he was a baby]. My Last name is now my [real] middle name. So you see, you wanting to use your middle as your last is fine. Angelina Jolie is really just [Jolie] her middle name. She decided not to use her real last name, [Voight] [daught of Jon Voight] so that she could make a name for herself, and not be looked on as the daughter of Jon Voight. My reason is simply that i hate my last name, no one can pronounce it or spell it correctly. Of course, now i have the same problem with my new first name.  But hey, can't have everything.SWK78

So yeah, your real name is only needed in legal and payment matters, like signing contracts and siging checks and the like. But you must make clear that your real name is not to be used on anything in the public, your stagename is for that purpose. Although, if you go the route of legally changing your name, then new rules [simpler rules] shall apply in due course. I won't be legally changing mine, I shall have the complicated route. Why wipe my name from record? My parents gave that to me.. [hmm...actually my brother and sister did.....] Anyway, have fun with the name game; eventually people you need to sign things for should catch on to your name changing. SWK78

No, not all. My mum and dad allowed my bro and sis to pick from two first names of which they wanted me to be. And from Stephanie or Sabrina, they chose the former. Then they helped my mum and dad pick out my middle name. SWK78
