Hi. I am new to the actorsforum community. This is my first post! Anyway, I have joined several productions, and all my parts have had to do with comedy. Now, I have been given a romantic-kissing part. This is new to me. Could I ask for a technique? | ||

Hey there, I have to say. May 6 was my Prom and there I was kissed by a boy for the first time in my life, and in my point of view there's no real technique. Just feel for the chemistry. There's nothing to it. I'd been dreading that moment for 17 years, and pleasantly I was worried over nothing. Sorry if this is no help. But the kissing bit is really just being in the moment. I know some people who would suggest you "picture the person who you are kissing as your lover" because it might instigate a more natural feeling when you kiss. However, I don't think that technique is really needed. Kissing, after all, is a physical act and can be easily mastered through practice, either on an object or in front of a mirror. I think you should mainly focus on what happens before, between and after the kissing as those elements are what make the kiss special, not the act itself. | ||

i agree with edder, different people do it in different ways, there is no "one way to do it" just be yourself, as if you are kissing someone for real. it is acing after all!

what i would suggest is that when you are kissing,whether it be a kiss of lust or something less,make sure your kiss is realistic.don't hold back but yet dont overdo it.a bad kissing scene can really destroy the entire production....this is speaking from experience!! | ||

I would say that it depends on what you are trying to communicate. Is it going to be a funny quick kiss? Something a really drunk person would do? Something a nervous high school kid might do or perhaps an older more confidant date? | ||

I think, you should not think about any Technique of Kissing .. because you do not Kiss the Girl .. but the Role does. Try to find out, what the Charakter you play would kiss the Girl like .. youl find out, while creating it - im sure. Wish you the best! | ||

Become the lips.. touching only lips... Be the touch.. nothing else exists in the world.. just your lips and tongue cautiously exploring another's lips... Forget the whole body.. it isn't... Just the kiss.. Just lips exploring lips, and your body melting into his embrace... Tiny nibbles along another's lip.. and paint soft wet paths, to cool with ever so soft warm breeze... while your thumbs caress around his ears... ..but don't let it fall, or you is screwed... Make him fall.. but just enough to do the kiss your way.. then pull him up, and release him.. if you don't want to be divorcing him one day... Remember your triggers out of the kiss, so you'll remember that you have acts and lines, and what they are... Simply re-aim the passion of the kiss, into your next lines, and in how you do them... and if your passions have been so aroused that you need more.. put that into the lines too... and if anger boils upward, for dissatisfaction.. convert anger into what shows at the corners of your mouth and eyes, by caressing anger... and when the director yells "Cut".. shake it off, like a shell of clear jello.. and focus on the next set and scene.. till yet another day is done.. and tomorrow's just another day at work... and in the next set.. maybe the script says you've got to shoot him... Just as well too.. cuz he kissed like a carp feeding... ____________ Your best viable honest Working-Solution, is to call him up, and inform him or her that you want to rehearse the kiss...  | ||

loads of people have these "fake kiss" techniques, using cheeks, kising upper lips etc. but just talk it through with the actor you are kissing and see what they are comfortable with too. ask how far they wanna go. they may be ok having a full on real tongue snog! which would look great. but see what they want as well. they may have their own ideas | ||
