Default Improv

How many of you like and/or practice improvisation? And do you play improv games?

I really only get practice in my drama class at school, and I'm (not to sound cocky) exremely good at it because my family is full of smartasses. I love improv games though, and I was thinking of joining a threatre group downtown that puts on shows; kinda like "Whose Line Is It Anyway?"

Oh and I forgot to add, if you do improv; what techniques do you practice to warm up or "get in the mood," and what are you thinking about/focusing on when you're on stage or with a practice group?

(I think the edit button expired so I have to add a post)

I'm not an improver myself. I mostly play the host. The games I've moderated are similar to that of 'whose line is it anyway?'

-postcards
-scenes from a hat
-party
-everyday olympics

I constantly look in the mirror and repeat things to myself often. I like to laugh, so doing this helps me stop laughing when I need to.

Thinking of a comback diss is always fun...but it takes me a minute to come up with a really good one.

some of the improv games are good to use to keep a scene or monologue fresh.... in my class we use the buzzer game where you have to repeat the last line in a different way when you are buzzed. We've only done it a few times this year, but it looks like a good way to force the student to come up with more than one option for delivery. The better kids can do 5 or more different ways!
