| acting | | Acting is stupid, rediculous, absurd and wierd. But so is art isn't it? When someone thats educated in expensive art paintings 50,000$ lets say. What do they see in the painting thats worth 50,000 dollars for. Because its a trip to them. Its a trip to look at. Its the same thing with acting. You want to trip the audience out. So you need to become a trippy looking person yourself.. How do you do this. You have to figure it out. This makes you interesting. Wouldn't you say :That Robert Deniro, Sean Penn ,James Dean ,John Belushi, Marylin Monroe are a trip to watch. And so are the most so called talented actors up their. I know so. When you get to that level, its not a craft anymore, its an art form. Is their any wannabe actors that would be willing to take it to that level.I ask is their anyboby out their with thatK KIND of dedication and courage? If not ,then what are you doing it for?The money? Now thats not what you should be doing art for is it?

| Re: acting | | Uhhh... dude?
This was seriously just a lot of random thoughts all put together to prove... some kind of point... and what that point is... I have no idea.

| Re: acting | | Well. I know one thing thats been true for me. That shooting your mouth off, or should I say telling everybody in acting class about how good or how great of an actor you are. I found nobody believes you. You have to prove it. This I did. And then I had everbody, I mean
half the acting class ,Aincluding the teacher was in my face asking me:How did you do that? It felt really good because most of the class thought I was some kind of little idiot. I was extremely shy at the time, and I know they thought, this guy can't act. He shoots his mouth off about how much he knows about acting and and all he is, is some little shy stupid guy. Then I proved it.Peresonal growth took place. Acting is about personal growth. They saw a transformation take place. Then they finally believed me. You have to walk your talk. I would have to say say Dustin Hoffman was right. Acting is about revenge. I definitly believe it is for some actors anyway. I Think an important thing to keep in mind is: If you want to become a good to great actor is: Its about getting through the embarrassment I think. But everybodys different. |

| Re: acting | | Hey, there's Jim Morrison, don't forget. I think you have spirit.
I live in NYC, for about the past six months. I'm 46, divorced, unfettered after a long time. So I just decided to bounce around Craigslist taking free parts, extras and photo shoots. In like a week, I'm getting more, one paying, one maybe soon paying good for a days work. I've always been extremely gregarious, and trippy. Most of my loved ones just can't deal with me anymore. They live upstate. They love me still, but I never shut up and bust eveyones chops. But really only loved ones. In public, with co-workers, with strangers, I'm the epitome of polite, chatty and nice. I help people carry their baby loaded strollers up subway steps. Yeah, it's a trip. It's fun. Sure I want to make money, if I can make it doing that rather than being a self-employed finish carpenter in the winter when it's slow and you really have to find work, and sometimes it isn't there, well that would be lovely. But I'm doing it because it's fun, and yeah, trippy. And the people you mentioned, and some of my favorite actors (I really only like underground stuff anymore. Rare a Hollywood piece will interest me, though there are good ones, and until recently there were many many good ones for decades) are indeed trippy people. Cukoos Nest, for instance. Or Last Temptation of Christ. Or
even 48 Hours. Nice post. Keep the positive attitude, take care of yourself, and focus on creating things. And when you're not creating things, focus on you. Keep things in order, don't dwell on love, family, work, or society's ills too much. Take my word for it, after getting divorced, my mind had a hard time with all those things for about a year. I let it go. Don't dwell, everyone has similar issues. Everyone. Most of the great novels throughout the world throughout time have been about family. The ups and downs. The Earth continues to spin to face the sun every day, and it's still beautiful here. There's magic everywhere. |

I understood the last post, just not the one about being drunk...
