Default NYC apartments

I'd love to find a good price on apartments in new york, so i can live in the city and focus more on acting.

I live outside the city right now, and it's a pain sometimes, gets kind of discouraging.

Any good apartment finder magazines or websites? I tried apartments.com with no luck. Maybe i just have to go look up some places in the local papers.

RentNet.com - Online Rental Guide

They might have some available that you could be interested in.

Yep, one piece of advise I heard was to find the apartment listing on line at a site link Rent Net; then physically go to NYC and go to the rental office to get the best price. If they know you are from out of town and can't come for a visit, they may jack up the price... Just a thought.

How much do apartments in New york cost anyways? Maybe lofts might be cheaper? Like the one in friends, I imagine is probably like $1500.

There's a difference between living in New York, and New York City. I don't recommend anybody concerned about price to live in "the city". I recommend you live in Brooklyn. There are several areas of Brooklyn that are great for us actor type. Places like Carrol Gardens (where I live), Park Slope, and Williamsberg. For a nice one bedroom in these neighborhoods cost 1200-1600 (good for couples). Williamsberg is cheaper, however, the area is a little farther out and not so nice. You can get a two bedroom in Williamsberg for $1100. From all of these neighborhoods the train will take you into the city 30-45 minutes.

If you want to live IN the city (Manhattan) you will spend 1300-2200 for a closet. But hey...Brooklyn is the new Manhattan anyway...it's cool to be from Brooklyn.

Craigslist of course is one of the best places to start your search.
