Question Raw Headshot Questions( I want your opinion)

Hello everybody,
I have some questions regarding headshots out there today.

All the ones i have come across seemed to have made the actors skin look perfectly smooth and unblemished, which led me to wonder, is having freckles and other facial markings a disadvantage to an actor? Do casting directors take facial markings into concideration when looking at headshots?

I myself have freckles and wonder whether i want them smoothed out in my headshots, or want the skin detail enhanced, to create a raw, richard avedon-esque type of picture.

Also, at the moment, I have braces, and it will be another year and a half or so before ill have them off. Should I wait that long before getting headshots?

Id like to know everyones opinion on this.

Thanks

Everything depends on the roles you want, the role you are right for, and the roles that other people think you are right for. The roles you are gonna get to read for with braces and freckles aren't necessarily going to be the roles you will read for with smoothed out skin and bare teeth. Take that into consideration. (whatever your headshot looks like, that is the sterotype that they will see you as....very limitted imaginations, these people) Maybe get some headshots now, go out for those roles, then when you get your braces off, re-evaluate.

i want to play very emotionally raw, damaged, sensual, odd, quirky, simply off beat roles. i would never want to be the polished girl next door type of character. I also love characters like uma therman in kill bill, keira knightley in domino, johnny depp in poc (and pretty much any of his movies), and angelina jolie in girl, interrupted.
I think ill wait till my braces are off to get into all this.
I dont care about the facial markings. if anything, id have them enhanced, for a brutally honest appearance.
