Default Hi Im A New Member!

Hi,

Im new here. Im from London UK. I have been interested in acting for a while now. Recently i auditioned for a part in a west end play. I got the part and now im training around three times a week, 10 hrs a day.
It is quite taxing mentally to run scenes again and again. I was wondering if any one has advice on keeping a role fresh when you become tired of playing it.

My theatre teacher at school said that rehearsing that much isn't good for the actors or anyone. I think you need to be able to take a break because you do get tired of playing that character after awhile... and I don't think there's any way to get over that without taking breaks...

Hi Method1,

Welcome to the boards! As to your question, something they told us to do at the Meisner Center was to say to ourselves before every performance "I have never done this before and I will never do this again...there is only now."

Now, I realize that's not much of a 'solution', but I feel it's an important thing to incorporate, because if you want to act professionally, you have to do the same 'role' over and over and over again. There's just no way around it. Stick with it though, it'll get easier.

Best of Luck!
