Default COMPLETE noob.

Hey everyone, I'm Rich. I'm a complete newbie when it comes to this stuff. If anyone can at least make me knowledgeable on the subject of acting, I would be greatly appreciative. First, a little about myself. I'm 18, 5'10" and weight about 250. I am really good with accents and voices. At the risk of sounding young and stupid, I think I could act rather well. All it takes is guidance and dedication. I work ridiculously hard...So I really think this is for me. I live in Ohio....I just have no idea where to go to even get started...All I know is that this is what I want to do.

Rich, you have the first part down. You want to do it and you have confidence in yourself.

Have you acted in anything yet? If not, don't be discouraged, sign up for classes somewhere, sign on to a production, even if it is just community theatre. You need to get experience in front of an audience or on a set, and some training. Look at your local junior college.

Acting, to many people, is one of those jobs that anyone can do and is easy. They are wrong. It takes hard work, practice, dedication, education, a little luck, and experience. It is not an "easy" job. And when you start really getting into it, it tends to get a bit expensive. But that will come later.

For now have fun, but take it a bit serious, because you want your audience to take you seriously as an actor.

Doc

Doc, I have acted a little. I played Macduff in the local community theatre's rendition of Macbeth. I am going to Cleveland State this fall, and I will definitely see what they have to offer in terms of acting classes. Thanks a lot for your input, it means a lot.
