Hello Everybody!

Just want to say hello to all of you guys. I am new to this forum and the profession of acting. It has been my passion since I can remember myself. It has been a long journey for me before I made a decision to throw myself into the world of acting, films, and opportunities to explore this world from a different angel. But here I am with billions of questions hoping to find good answers.
I read in a book that the best way to start is to go to as many auditions as possible and practise monologues and different acting techniques 24/7. I have a question about agents and SAG. Do you need to become a member of SAG as soon as possible or it's not necessary for a beginner? And what are the critical aspects of finding a good agent? Is it possible to get auditions without using an agent?
I live in Denver and plan on starting acting career here. How does the market look here and what are the names of must-know-people and must-know-places?
Denver is not NY or LA but they say you have to start somewhere. I believe it does not really matter where you come from, what matters is where you go.

Don't worry about agents quite yet, and no you don't need them to go to auditions at local theaters. The first thing you should do is make sure you have the personality to become an actor, after that find an acting class and then audition for plays in your area. You'll need an agent as you gain more stature in the public eye. If you're just starting out agents don't want you because you don't have any talent yet.
