Default Reality Television

Anyone else agree that reality television really isn't all that bad? Sure, there are a few bad apples, but don't you feel like some shows open up doors? I haven't had any luck yet, but if I had the opportunity, I'd definitely take the chance on something in the reality field.

Ugh
For the most part Reality TV is a joke.
Of course, it sure does intrigue the pants off everyone doesn't it?
I mean I still love watching the good ones like The Biggest Loser and the Home Makeover thing with Ty-cutey-pie.

I'm not sure I'd want to have a door open that leads to me being known as a "slut"-reality-star anyway

But, and say this tongue-in-cheek, reality sells well, and that is because of the market. As actors, we prep for a role, we learn the character and their backstory. We become that person. But RTV allows the producers to take real, but interesting people and put them in unlikely situations for that "unscripted" feel. Do I watch reality tv? No. But I know there is a huge market/demographic for it.

With the looming strike, scripted stuff may get a little rare.

If only there was something REAL about it... reality television is not reality at all. You can look these things up online, but studies have shown that people who know they are being watched act completely different. So just the fact that these people KNOW that they're being filmed changes how they think, speak, AND behave. If they threw some people in a house together and didn't tell them about the cameras, then we might have some reality going on. Until then, forget about it. Reality television is the worst thing to happen to television in its history.
