Steven King short stories vs. books | | I was wondering why it seems that King's short stories (Shawshank Redemption, Stand By Me, etc.) seem to make such wonderful movies, while some of his longer books seem to not always be very good as films (most notably I remember a rather shady adaptation of "It" some years ago that was really poor.)
Is it that the book material is too deep for a two-hour movie and so much has to be compressed, while a short story lets the director be creative.
Any thoughts? |
