Cool Sci-fi/Fantasy Feature Questions

I want to make a film, where both science fiction and fantasy elements are completely equal. In my opinion, with the films i've seen, it hasnt been perfectly done. Each film that attempts it seems to still be missing something, and i can't quite figure it out.

My question to you lot, and hopefully you can help out with this, is

What are the main elements that make a science fiction piece?
What are the main elements that make a fantasy piece?
And do any of you think my above assumption wrong (such that no one has perfectly blended the two genres)?

Please, this is important.
I have wicked ideas, but i dont want to post them on here.

thanks a lot,

SWK78

Default Re: Sci-fi/Fantasy Feature Questions

I have one tip for you..

Credibility - [definition] - believability of a statement, action, or source.

As long as it's believable, the audience will take it in.. the worst possible sci-fi/fantasy movie completely defies natural laws in ridiculous ways. I think there's a fine line between sci-fi/fantasy and the "cheesy" genre.

P.S. I saw X-Men III and was pretty pleased with it.

Default Re: Sci-fi/Fantasy Feature Questions

and xmen is not quite there at sci-fi/fantasy equality thou. the elements of SF = the spaceship and cerebro and the Cure. the elements of F = basically only the "special powers" EXCEPT that that draws FROM science. the biological evolution from science. i dunno it was quite up to par on the level that i was talking about....but it was a good movie.....

thanx for your comments.....

anyone else have an opinion???
