Many actors nowadays plan on becoming writers or directors when their acting careers slow down so I was wondering what goals or plans the people of this forum might have for themselves. I always try to have a back up plan because I know acting is such a competitive field to get involved in so what are yours?

Well..if acting didnt take me anywhere, I'd probably want to teach gr.12 English. But if I manage to be successful in the industry, I wouldnt want to do anything apon retirement if I can live off of what I've made lol. | ||

Yeah, I figure I could teach film classes at a major university. I'm hoping to get a master's degree. Ideally, I would like to teach at NYC, but only if I find that I'm not successful at acting or directing.

My advice is to never stop writing because your ideas will only continue to improve. It keeps the brain going and you should have no trouble developing your characters when you have a lot of creativity. | ||

I would love to be a director for something like middle school (junior high). I'm working on my writing skills - currently writing two very different types of plays - but playwrighting will probably (unless I get that good) only be a hobby. However, it seems that the easy money (well, the easier money...what's easy when it comes to theatre?) is in the technical aspects, and I wouldn't mind at all becoming a techie in theatre before becoming primarily an actor. | ||
