Default Book to movie adaptions?

What book to movie adaptions do you feel translated the best?

Mine would be War of the Worlds, and Clockwork Orange

Exactly. I could never finish the book though. I tried for about 3 years but I just couldnt stick with it. I'd skim over it mostly. The movie was very intresting.

I don't know about the best but the worst would be Harry Potter. Everything that I would expect to be brought from the book to the movie is either cut out or extremely short.

war of the worlds was a very good translation. the harry potter films were also very good. what made teh hatty potter series even better is the fact that there are still more books to be/ have been written. i really like the way the potter films have worked out and will work out in the future.

Mystic river was a great book, the movie wasnt as good (as in most cases), but it still was deserved it's awards. Books always have so much more content and detail then its movie. Dan Browns books (The Da Vinci Code, Angels and Demons, Ect.) are awesome books....HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!! I hope The Da Vinci Code movie with Tom Hanks turns out well.

oh my goodness Acting duck I was going to say Mystic River! THe book is excellent-truly and the film was not my bag at all baby.

Alot of people who hadn't read the book thought the film was v.good though.

I thought that Red Dragon was better as a book.

I haven't read War of the Worlds but I loved the film.

Charlie and the Chocolate factory film was good (Gene Wilder version) I've so many happy memories about watching it and drooling over the choclate river!!!

Philip Pullman's Dark Materials trio are brilliant books that apparently are to be made into film.

As I child I read and re-read the Narnia books and now The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe is out as a film but I have seen it yet.

The Bone Collector by Jeffery Deaver was a good adaption but the book is better than the film.
