I was very excited about seeing this movie. I never read the book and never saw the original, but the previews made the movie look so good. I passed up a chance to see Batman Begins to see this, and I was sure dissapointed. It seemed like it was the same scene over and over again. Reminded me of Mars Attacks, only not so funny. Please, no flame posts for never having seen the orig/read the book. A movie shouldn't have to rely on anything but itself to be a good movie.

I too was looking forword to seing this movie because Tom Cruise is an exellent actor. However, Sci-fi flicks are definatly not his thing. He should stick with movies like Collateral and the Last Samarai.

Yah, I was really hyped up about this movie myself... I even WENT TO ONE OF THE PREMIERS, and in the end I was dissapointed. But, if Tom Cruise and Dakota Fanning weren't in the movie it would have been an even bigger flop.

Dakoda Fanning's screaming really annoyed me. It's another one of those "scream at the most inconvienient times..right...NOW" thing, they always piss me off. She played her role well though.

I was also disappointed with this movie, especially the ending (which ends as abruptly in the book.)

I'm also not a Tom Cruise fan, but overall, I've seen much worse.

No use for me to watch it then.. The Day After Tomorrow keeps me interested in some parts, so if this movie isn't better than that, ill rather watch it on DVD when it comes out on it.

I should have done that. Granted, it's pretty good action wise, but it starts to get repetitive near the end..then its over before you blink.

I agree with you for the most part, but I especially agree with this particular statement.

Cruise was more or less pretty boring in War of the Worlds. There was practically no connection with his character, and I don't if he is to blame, or if the script did not do enough to connect the audience with the character.
