The most powerful... probably the finale in RENT. I cry everytime I hear that song or watch that last scene.

Also the last scene in Brokeback Mountain... when Ennis says, "Jack... I swear..." That was pretty powerful, to me.

I can think of a few

Saving Private Ryan: Where Ryan says: "tell me i've lived a good life"

Forrest Gump: Talking to Jenny's grave

Tuesdays With Morrie: The scene where Morrie's wife is pushing him around having fun is just really powerful for me. I don't know why.

East Of Eden(favorite): The scene where Cal trys to thrust the money into his father and begins sobbing.

Rebel Without A Cause: "I got the bullets!"

As a Scotsman the final scene of Braveheart where his friend threw the Broadsword in the air gave me a lump in my throat.

Other scenes I remember for being powerful...

I remember my dad crying at the film The Champ when the little boy was screaming at the boxer to get up.. "Champ, Champ!!!"

Any Rocky film tends to get a good reaction. How many people have not sat on the sofa punching air just as the music reaches a crescendo and Rocky fights back?

But my all time favourite powerful scene..

The opening scene of the Rock as Ed Harris dresses in his US Marine Mess Dress and you can hear the voiceover..

'Sir, you have to get us out of here...'
'I am sorry Son, we don't have clearance to come behind enemy lines'
Pause
[softly] 'They are not coming for us are they Sir?'
Then the musci kicks in with renewed gunfire.

That resonated with me.
