Lightbulb stage VS film

when you first got into acting, what was your dream? did you want to be famous and in all the box-office hits? did you want to be a broadway star? or do you just want to act no matter which medium?

I've always wanted to be on stage. I was never really into being on television or film... I would certainly do it, if the oppurtunity arose, but my dream is to be on stage... that's it.

you don't think theatre will die out, do you? be replaced by movies?? I certainly hope not.

so, yeah... I was just curious about everyone else's dream.

I pick film over stage. Im not the stage type of person. And, I've always wanted to be in a movie and kind of steered away from stage plays and such.

I don't think it will be replaced, there will always be a place for theatre.

Stage acting is more difficult than film acting. In stage, you have to do your best, and avoid any single mistake. A single mistake especially noticeable will ruin the story as well as the audiences' excitement.

plus when you screw up, you can't retake the shot. each night is different, each night certain things excell and certain things go wrong and it's always something/something/something happening I know I've had to "save" a show... twice. haha.

Example: In the middle of a stage drama: Handsome Prince (face looks so sad) comes along and tries to wake up Sleeping Beauty, and then Sleeping Beauty suddenly sneezed!

I respect an actor more if they've done both. There is a big difference between the two so an actor that can act for both has more talent in my eyes. A large majority of the actors famous today have not done theatre and it makes them seem flat, whereas an actor who has done theatre like Kevin Spacey seems multi-dimensional.

I think to be on stage you have to be really really talented and to be on film you have to have 'IT'. Do you know what I mean, charisma.

Or to be on the big screen it depends who you know, foot in the door kind of thing.

Personally, I am a film guy. I love everything about film, watching them, acting in them, now starring in them would be amazing.

I will be the first to admit that film and stage acting are two very different things. What a zoomed in camera sees and what a person 200 feet away from you sees in big open theater are two very different things. It takes a lot of talent to be a great actor in both mediums.

I absolutely agree with the "IT" statement.

I want to either act professionally, or get my teaching certificate and teach highschool drama.
