| Re: IMDB who else? | | I don't think there is anything wrong with that. No need to be anonymous. Sometimes if your role is smaller, they don't add it to the site. I was on The Playbook, and I submitted myself for it. I also just had a small role on The Jane Austen Book club, but they never put me on there, so I just submitted it myself. They still have to verify it and everything before it's allowed.
I'm not sure what's so naughty about it? If you were in the production, you deserve to be on the imdb site. |

| Re: IMDB who else? | | no russ i didnt mean about adding yourself to imdb on credits
i meant talking in the message board about yourself
SWK. to be qualifid for submission it needs to be a publically broadcast or available production
ie on TV on cinema on DVD or even just shown at a festival or two.
most of my stuff doesnt qualify, the only two things that do are the two episodes i was in a tv series playing a very small character and a pilot for a tv series that never even got broadcast let alone taken on! lol
hopefull the movie im in at the moment will be added. its an indie feature and is hoping to get a UK dvd release when finished

| Re: IMDB who else? | | Congrats on that movie Ceno! Good times!
SWK - if you've been in something that is already on IMDB, you can register an account, and submit yourself. |

| Re: IMDB who else? | | i found it wierd on imdb.
i was in two episodes of one particular series. (its the only thing on my imdb at the mo)
there was one episode where i was barely in it, just a montage sort of thing in the opening credits, yet i got credited and listed on imdb!
the next episode i was in (playing same character) i had a few scenes and lines and was even a big part of the episode's story (not in it loads, but enough scattered through the 45 minute ep!) yet when i submitted myself to imdb (cos it wasnt on already) it got refused , i scanned my contract to send them and they accepted it but im listed as UNCREDITED for that ep, even though i was in it more! wierd!
i aint too bothered though, i got to be in it and i (after ages of hard trying) have my main episode on dvd along with the opening credits of the other one, so thats cool!
i hate it when you can never obtain a dvd copy of your work. does anyone else ever get that?
there was a film i was in ages ago that was abandonned after it being mostly shot
i only had one scene, where i died. but it was sooo good. i spoke in a foreign language too so it will look good on my reel. it was shot in a snow blizzard (so its different setting to my other stuff) and it was a very emotional and well shot piece
but ive been trying for nearly a year now (last jan/feb time) to get a copy of my footage of the producer. ive even offered to pay her! she keeps fobbing me off, saying she will send it when she gets a chance. but its been off an on for ages. im getting annoyed !lol |

| Re: IMDB who else? | | Yes, I've had plenty of trouble getting copies of my work. I've even had problems (currently as well) getting paid for work I've done on low budget stuff. It's so angering, because you're pretty much doing THEM a favor by doing the project. You are working for way less than scale, or for free so you can get copy (which is always promised), you go above and beyond, most times providing your own wardrobe, taking time off from a day job that actually pays you money. Side note: sometimes us actors tend to think that everyone else is so IMPORTANT and that we are just lucky to be cast in any project....which is SOO not true! We actors work our asses off, paying tons of money for training, headshots, marketting, etc. We make all kinds of sacrifices in order to pursue this job. When we go into an audition, and when we are on set, we are COLLABORATORS and we are helping THEM get a vision off the ground. They OWE us copy AT THE VERY LEAST!
Sorry to go off on a rant. I'm not trying to be egoccentric, saying that we are so great and they are lucky to have us on their project. I'm saying that these people that offer little to no pay, but offer copy, should damn well provide that copy. Most times it's the only reason an actor takes the job (to get footage for their reel) It's the LEAST they could do. Can you tell this is a bone of contention for me?
It's so frustrating. I totally feel your pain! |

| Re: IMDB who else? | | yeah i agree 110%!
a lot of the time, its even how low budget stuff is advertised
"no payment but travel expenses and food, copy on DVD."
or
"low/no payment. good material for actors showreel."
lol
ah well
i agree with what you say about its us doing them the favour really. i mean. i know the actors want to act . and it IS showreel material. but its THEIR film.
i dont wanna sound demanding, but as you say. we pay to travel there (even though we often get our expenses back) and we pay for wardrobe. time off etc.
the main reason i do it is to get a copy. whats the point in spending all teh time making a movie and not even getting to see it!
mneh
lol
