audition | | I have to audition for a college play in order to graduate. I’m in the department for design, not acting. I’ve never auditioned for a play before. I feel my performance will suffer if I go into the audition not knowing a thing about auditions. Any pointers. A big part of it is that I’m not sure exactly what to do about a monologue. I understand how the performance of a monologue works, however I don’t want be laughed off the stage for breaking some kind of acting taboo. What’s the inside scoop about monologues? Is it considered played out to do something well known like Hamlet? Would an experienced actor choose something like this? I would ask the folks at the school but I don’t want to let on how under experienced I am in fear of that comprising my chances. Any comments?
