Who's teaching it well? The main school's I've found include The Ruskin School in Santa Monica, Playhouse West in NoHo, Bill Alderson in Hollywood, and The Meisner Center in NoHo. All of these studios have a close connection to Sandy Meisner... Alderson taught for him at the Neighborhood Playhouse, Ruskin was an assistant, Goldblum and Carnegie at Playhouse West studied with him (and Alderson)-- and didn't Meisner use their theatre when he relocated to the west coast? Barter, heading the Meisner Center, claims the successor title, but has anyone studied with him? Looking for feedback, even one word replies, "bad, great!..."

Playhouse West: a little impersonal...auditors came in and out frequently which was a bit distracting, esp with Meisner's more vulnerable exercises which require a safe environment. good instruction and helpful technique. sometimes felt like a factory, churning along, and to me I want training to feel very personal and connected. Haven't checked out Ruskin or heard anything about it.

i hear the playhouse is pretty good. busy. i audited once and yeah i get the impersonal comment, but that might change once you're involved in their process.
