and, while it was not perfect in terms of emotional depth, i really did enjoy it.
of course my teacher gave me a few pointers. it was just a warmup, not for grade, but i really enjoyed the idea of performing an art. my nerves were under reasonable control.m y only regret is not having started this sonner in life. i'm a shy person and this has helped me so much. it has increased my confidence.

I've never done a monologue, for class or for audition purposes; and I quite hear that the audition process is the least favourite of most actors.

I have been in six community theater productions (one a dinner theater, a Shakespearian, and most others musicals). Have you been in any stage productions, or is college your first encounter with the matter?

it's my first encounter with the process. i wished i has the confidence when i was younger to do it, but did not.

Hmm, well all I can say to that is this:

Shed your past life and spread wings. When you're up there, you are in command, and I can tell you from lots of experience, that it is a most indescribable feeling of power when you are the one speaking onstage. You have everyone's attention. All eyes are on you now. It's not the time to feel nervous. Never nervous. This is the moment you have been waiting for. Everyone is watching, listening to you. You have them in your palm, and you can shape their minds however you please. You're all that matter to them in that moment. Oh, what a feeling! I so hope you can dance in its luster one day soon! I shall clap for you at a distance.

Embrace your new surroundings, let go your past. Fly like the eagles. This is your passion. Make it matter to you and to everyone around you. You must have that confidence. You must build on it and balance it, retain it throughout your life. I know you can acheive anything that you desire; wanting it is not enough. You must climbs the stairs, you must be bent on your purpose. Nothing else matters.

Go. Go out.

And live your passion.

Live your dream.

Well done.. your first monologue is a key step in the acting journey. Always a bit nervewracking. I can only agree with the person above me who urged you to spread your wings and embrace the experience.

Congratulations!!! Really, you have done well.. take what your teacher said to work on your next monologue.. and remember keep having fun! ;-)

Good Job! That was VERY nervewracking for me the first time I did a monologue because I was in AN AUDITION!

I practice monologues every day as excersizes, especially since I have an audition this Sunday, I do around 20 a day for the fun of it!

I think that having a full arsenol of monologues is quite valuable! Knowing a wide range of styles and genres is good too!
