Default Dealing With Auditions

Hey guys...when doing auditions, how much freedom do we have? Are we allowed to ask questions like; What's the character's motivation? Intentions and so on? Somebody please give me a heads up. Thanks.

erm... i think that depends on the person dealing with you. You have to judge for yourself. in my experience it is looked upon as a good thing as it shows your interest, and how important it is to you. On the other hand if they look like they wouldnt give you the time of day then you had better just deal with it .

I've been taught to make choices and stick with them - whether right or wrong. In my experience the casting directors don't have that much time and are looking for someone who can just pull it off. If it's something you really need to know because it doesn't make sense to you then you'll have to make a decision when you get in front of the CD.
