Default AMDA Review

My daughter was accepted to study at AMDA. In spite of the expense, she wants to go. I'd like to hear from anyone who actually attended the American Musical and Dramatic Academy in NewYork City. The student loans would put my daughter in debt for 10 years Is it worth it

Default Re: AMDA Review

I did go to The American Musical and Dramatic Academy. I studied there for a year in 1989 before I got very frustrated and moved on. My first instinct is to say, no, it is not worth it, unless it has changed considerably, primarily because no actor needs the weight of ten years of debt. Umm...I feel very strongly about A.M.D.A. and young actors (I assume your daughter is 18?). I wish my parents had done this, and that is why I am willing to go out on a limb. If you send me a real e-mail address Iwould be willing to give you my phone number and tell you the pros and cons of studing at AMDA. I have unlimited free calling so I can call you back at a convenient time. I just don't want your daughter to get in debt for the wrong reasons (and AMDA might be very good for her, it is very hard to respond with out more info. AMDA used to be very dance-intensive which made it a little tricky for those of us who had more of a limited dance background-- just stuff like that. I also completely frown on their no audtion policy. The best experience you can get, especially as a teenager is to be in productions! And AMDA only did showcases, and we had to supply all our own costuming). Anywho, if I can be of any help please send an e-mail to porfin42 at verizon dot net (I spelled out all the e-mail so send accordingly). This might come to late to be of any help, but I thought I would post anyway.
