He's a stand up legend, and I imagine he is a funny guy in real life. But the typical Jim Carrey character that you are thinking of is probably far from reality in his everyday life. Most great actors are not their most known characters in real life... sometimes what makes an actor great is playing those roles that are most opposite them in everyday life.
