Default Re: Directing School

To say that you need to be a master actor would negate the work of dozens of Oscar and Tony winning directors, many of whom tried acting in their childhood with dismal results and never returned.

The primary prerequisite of a director is to have a unique and interesting vision of how to tell a story, and as I have said before the only way to develop that "voice" is to do it. Read Rebel WIthout a Crew for some eye opening examples, or for the stage an old book called Act One by Moss Hart, half of the legendary Kuafman and Hart of Broadway fame. Both of these books outline very uniqie journeys into the world of theatre and film. This is not brain surgery, when we stink out loud no one dies, they just don't buy as many tickets.
