Re: Crying ( how do I ) | | Congrats on the film.
Personal opinion: If you make it a technical thing, it will never happen. Thinking about crying, or trying to cry will have the exact opposite effect. How much water comes out of your eye is far less important than being real and expressing from whatever place you in at the moment. That being said, in order to get to a point where you MIGHT cry, you need to do the personal homework that entails finding out exactly what makes YOU cry. If you are going to have an organic emotion, then you must know where it comes from in you. Get to know that place that makes you cry as well as possible. (NOT conceptually, you must actually get yourself to that place emotionally and live in it for as long as possible) What did you WANT at that time that you weren't getting that made you sad? What INTENTION did you have?
Then, when the time comes to do it in a film, give yourself an intention that will spark the feeling in you that you had before. And the act of carrying out that intention will hopefully bring out the crying.....or, at the very least, a deep, and real performance. |
