I had that problem, even off stage..I tend to not look people in the eyes when having intense conversations.

You just have to force yourself to do it. It's a lot easier when doing comedy because comedy makes more of a direct connection with your audience via their reactions (laughing and so on.)

You really just have to work at it..being comfortable with eye contact comes with confidance, and time too.
