Post Re: Employment vs. UnEmployment

I work at night (graveyard shift from 11:30pm - 8am) but that's not for everyone. Some of my friends do a variety of free-lance, consultant gigs whereby they have mucho scheduling flexibility. The perceived employment vs. unemployment conflict exists when the artist has limited skills/talents (outside of SHOWBIZ) and/or the artist refuses to wear other hats in the job market.

(Remember the Caribbean joke, "How many jobs ya got, man?") For performing artists, a healthy basketful of various skills and talents helps us butter-the bread or bring home the bacon from our survival job (s). (Book recommendation: What Color is Your Parachute? by Richard N. Bolles)

"Acting is imitation of life" and whatever you EXPERIENCE in life is "brought to the table" during performance. BREAK-A-LEG!"
