I guess I've been lucky because the community theatre here auditions for two days at 7-9pm... so even when I work late (I get off at 8:30pm) I can still make it to the tail-end of the audition... which is better than missing it altogether :/ and because there's two days the odds are better that I won't work late BOTH nights.

you don't have to quit your job but it would be nice to find a more flexible one or one where the boss understands you're pursuing an acting career...
